Bindery: Subtle bindery/printing defects are allowed. Bindery tears must be less than 1/16" on Silver Age and later books, although on Golden Age books bindery tears of up to 1/4" have been noted.
Cover Appearance: Cover is flat with no surface wear.
Inks: Inks are bright with high reflectivity and a minimum of fading.
Corners: Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted. A 1/16" bend is permitted with no color break.
Cover Condition: Small, inconspicuous, lightly penciled, stamped or inked arrival dates are acceptable as long as they are in an unobtrusive location. Slight foxing.
Spine: Spine is tight and flat.
Staples: Staples are generally centered; may have slight discoloration. Almost no stress lines.
Paper: Paper is off-white to cream, supple and fresh.
Interior: Slight interior tears are allowed

“A Present From the Past”: the 1964 annual is a Chaney-family double-bill — “Mister Monster” and “Son of Mister Monster” reprinted together — with the House of Usher feature from Issue #9, The Time Machine from Issue #6, and the early Christopher Lee piece “Horrib-Lee Yours.” Vincent Price and Claude Rains share the cover, borrowed from the paintings of Issue #9 and Issue #10.
