From there the issue runs the genre’s full span: a Nosferatu filmbook reaches back to Max Schreck’s 1922 vampire while an early Young Frankenstein preview looks ahead to Mel Brooks’ loving parody, with Zardoz and Devils of Darkness in between and Forry walking Mary Shelley’s ground in “The Ackermonster in Frankenstein’s Domain.”

FM 111 (Oct 1974), Gogos paints Linda Blair as Regan from The Exorcist, a classic-monster portraitist turned on a film barely a year old; the face he is painting is Dick Smith's makeup, and Warren (FM's own publisher) had put out Dick Smith's Do-It-Yourself Monster Make-Up Handbook in 1965 and sold it through the magazine; the issue reaches from Schreck's 1922 Nosferatu to a preview of Young Frankenstein two months before it opened
