Polanski’s The Fearless Vampire Killers continues its filmbook run in Issue #139, “Werewolves Strike Again” digs into lycanthrope lore, and “Star Swarm” keeps collecting the genre greats’ verdicts on Star Wars. The issue also bids farewell to Allison Hayes — the fifty-foot woman herself — and silent-era leading man Ricardo Cortez, with photos from a certain cement-and-footprints ceremony out front.
Two color photos capture a Hollywood milestone — Darth Vader and C-3PO pressing their footprints into the cement outside Mann's Chinese Theatre, making history with every impression.
The footprint-ceremony cover photos make Issue #139 a little piece of Hollywood-history ephemera, and the werewolf-lore feature reads like proto-encyclopedia work. Star Wars-era FM with one foot still planted in the classics.
